Buyer Agency
Why you should use an Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR)
Depending on the laws in your state and the business arrangement you have with a licensed real estate agent, that agent may actually be negotiating for the seller, not you the buyer. The best way to be certain that an agent is working in your best interests is by signing a buyer representation agreement with an agent.
A buyer’s representative represents the consumer who is purchasing property, not the seller. Although state law varies, a buyer’s representative usually works for and owes fiduciary responsibilities to the real estate buyer. It is the buyer representative that has buyer’s best interests in mind throughout the entire real estate transaction.
Why should you look for the ABR designation before looking for a home?
These three letters after a REALTOR’s name tell you that you will be working with buyer representative who is committed to your best interests. The ABR designation is awarded by REBAC to those REALTORS who have met the specific educational and experiential criteria needed to provide the high level quality service required by REBAC (Real Estate BUYER’S AGENT Council).
When you work with an ABR designated real estate professional, your interests as a buyer become the interests of your ABR. That’s your ABR’s business too: working with buyer-clients like you to help make the home-buying experience as go as smoothly as possible.
As your ABR, I can help you:
Define what you want and need in a home
Learn about important neighborhood resources and market information
Find the home that best meets your wants and needs
Formulate your offer
Develop your negotiation strategy
Keep track of all the details throughout the entire transaction to closing and beyond
When looking to buy a new home, first look for an Accredited Buyer’s Representative.
Real estate professionals who earned the ABR Designation have taken special training that focuses on you, the homebuyer, to help guide you successfully through what could be the most complicated transaction in your life.
The ABR designation is awarded by the Real Estate Buyer’s Agent Council (REBAC), and is the only designation of its type recognized by the National Association of REALTORS. Established in 1988 and now numbering more than 50,000 members, REBAC is the world’s largest organization of real estate professionals specializing in buyer representation. As a member who has met all course and professional experiential requirements, I have been awarded the ABR (Accredited Buyers Representative) designation.
